The new Science Oxford Centre and Wood Centre for Innovation scoop OPT Award.

We are delighted that the new Science Oxford Centre (SOC) and adjoining Wood Centre for Innovation (WCFI), located at Stansfeld Park, have won an Oxford Preservation Award.

The prestigious awards recognise the finest new buildings and most exemplary efforts to preserve older structures in Oxford.

The Science Oxford Centre (SOC) is the UK’s first integrated indoor-outdoor science education centre for primary and early years’ children, delivering exciting, curiosity-based activities that combine both natural and physical sciences. Located in a 15-acre woodland, a private, safe and stimulating environment has been created, where young visitors can explore the natural world and learn about environmental science and biodiversity, bringing scientific enquiry out of the classroom and into the great outdoors.

The Wood Centre for Innovation (WCFI) provides purpose-built office space and support for start-up and grow-on science and tech companies. The centre is located close to clinical research facilities at local hospitals and Oxford Brookes University. This advantageous location perfectly positions the centre’s high-tech business residents at the core of transformational research and discovery, enabling easy access to this fast-paced and growing community.

The site boasts a café and flexible 100-seat theatre venue that is a fantastic resource for the local community and schools, as well as hosting business and public events.

The project has also been shortlisted as a 2020 Civic Trust Regional Finalist. The scheme will be considered for a national award or commendation in December by the national judging panel.
