Spanish City has added to its growing list of accolades with an FX Award for Best Mixed Use Development.
The FX Awards celebrate the very best of international design, and Spanish City saw off acclaimed projects as far afield as San Francisco, Salerno, and southern China to scoop the grand prize. The judges described it as an “amazing restoration” with “extremely high-quality spaces providing a social hub and uplifting connection with the community”.
This marks the thirteenth award Spanish City has won, including a prestigious RIBA North East Award in May. Since reopening in 2018 following ADP’s restoration, the iconic seaside pleasure building has had a transformative impact on the local community, and been praised by locals and visitors.
Senior interior designer Katie Thompson led our interiors strategy for the project, which used contemporary finishes, materials, lightings, and fittings to recreate the feel of the building when it was first opened. She said: “We were thrilled to accept the award for Best Mixed Use Development at the FX Awards in London last night – the thirteenth award for this fantastic building! The competition in the category was amazing, so we are very happy that the judges thought ADP was a worthy winner.”
