The Sir William Henry Bragg Building is in the running for two more awards! Our landmark project for the University of Leeds has been shortlisted for both an AJ Retrofit Awards and a RIBA Yorkshire Award.
The Sir William Henry Bragg Building is major milestone within our wider campus masterplan for the University of Leeds. This collaborative research building provides a range laboratory and specialised teaching environments. A crucial aspect of the project was to sensitively repurpose the Grade II* listed Old Mining Building to form part of the new centre. We upgraded the glazing and added a new rooftop extension to ensure enhanced airtightness and thermal performance.
The AJ Retrofit Awards recognise and celebrate the design expertise behind the vital renewal and repurposing of existing buildings, while setting a precedent for ways to slash the industry’s carbon footprint in the process. The results will be announced on the 4th April at The Brewery, London.
The RIBA Regional Awards are judged and presented locally, and celebrates great architecture across the UK. The Bragg building is among 11 to have been shortlisted for the 2023 RIBA Yorkshire awards. The winning projects will be announced later this spring.
