ADP has secured detailed planning consent for a reimagined 198-bed care home at St Asaph Business Park, North Wales, on behalf of Star Units.
The development will brings together specialist residential care, an imaging suite and an orthopaedics unit within a healthcare hub designed around the needs of residents, staff and visitors.
Building on an earlier consent, ADP led a series of design enhancements that will improve the scheme’s appearance, amenities and delivery.
Comprising three interconnected accommodation blocks, the design provides dedicated entrances to each building, creating a clear sense of identity while allowing the development to be delivered in phases as required. By utilising high-quality materials, the brick building has a recognisably residential character, which will stand the test of time and helps the building feel welcoming and familiar. Combined with a rational layout that supports modern methods of construction (MMC), the design balances resident wellbeing with efficient delivery.

At the heart of the development is a secure landscaped courtyard with allotment planters and a sensory garden, providing residents with safe and accessible outdoor space to relax and socialise. The surrounding natural landscaping and forest trail further enhances wellbeing and strengthens the connection with nature.
The design also incorporates air source heat pumps, solar PV panels, sustainable drainage features, and biodiversity enhancements, supporting a highly sustainable approach to care, designed to achieve a BREEAM Excellent rating.
